Adelphi Apartments Glenelg is a multi residential development positioned along the Glenelg North foreshore in South Australia. Designed to deliver contemporary coastal living within a premium waterfront setting, the building required a compliant and efficient waste management solution capable of supporting daily resident volumes while maintaining amenity and operational efficiency.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two dedicated 510mm galvanised steel vertical systems, comprising a standalone waste chute system for organic waste and an advanced eDiverter chute system for general waste and recycling separation. This dual-stream configuration enables residents to dispose of different waste types through purpose-designed intake doors while maintaining effective separation at discharge level.
The organic waste chute services all six levels and discharges via a Type A bottom discharge door to suit 660L MGBs. The second chute incorporates eDiverter technology, allowing controlled diversion of general waste and recycling into separate 1100L MGBs within the ground level discharge room. This arrangement optimises waste room layout, improves recycling outcomes, and reduces manual handling requirements for building management.
Each system includes fire-rated, self-closing intake doors to ensure compliance with relevant building regulations and occupant safety standards. Integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems were installed at the uppermost level of both chutes to support airflow performance, hygiene control, and long term operational reliability.
The completed installation provides a durable, low maintenance and code compliant waste infrastructure solution tailored to the building’s vertical design. By integrating organic waste separation alongside an eDiverter general waste and recycling stream, the system supports sustainable waste management practices while maintaining the premium standards expected in a coastal residential development.
