Plaza Central East Tower is a high rise residential development located in the rapidly growing Maroochydore city centre on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Delivered by RCQ Projects, the project forms part of a broader urban precinct designed to provide modern apartment living within a vibrant coastal environment while supporting efficient building operations and long term asset performance.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a compliant 510mm galvanised steel waste chute system designed to support efficient vertical waste transfer within the building. The installation services multiple operational intake levels, allowing residents to dispose of waste safely while improving waste management efficiency for building operators.
Fire‑rated self‑closing intake doors were installed at each service level to ensure safe operation and compliance with Australian building standards. Clear signage was also installed at each chute intake point to support proper waste disposal practices and assist with day‑to‑day building management.
The chute system operates as a straight vertical run without offsets or transfers, ensuring reliable gravity waste flow while reducing maintenance requirements over the life of the system. An integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning system was installed above the top service level to assist with airflow management, odour control, and ongoing hygiene performance within the chute shaft.
Waste collected through the chute system is discharged into the Ground level waste room via a Type A bottom discharge configuration designed to suit 1100L MGB bins. This configuration supports organised waste room operations and enables efficient waste handling for building management.
