Opal Clyde North is a purpose‑built residential aged care development delivered for APM Group within Melbourne’s growing south east corridor. The facility provides high‑quality accommodation and care services within a modern healthcare environment, requiring waste infrastructure that supports hygiene, accessibility, and safe daily operations.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed dedicated 610mm galvanised steel waste chute systems and linen chute systems servicing Levels 01 and 02. The dual‑stream configuration enables efficient separation of general waste and linen handling, supporting operational workflows typical of aged care facilities while reducing manual handling risks for staff.
Each chute system incorporates fire‑rated, self‑closing intake doors to ensure compliance with relevant building standards. Integrated odour relief venting and wash‑down cleaning systems were installed at the uppermost level to maintain airflow performance and long‑term hygiene control.
At ground level, minor offset discharge configurations were provided to suit facility bin handling requirements, ensuring safe and practical waste transfer. Reusable slab penetration ring formers were also supplied to support accurate slab set‑out and compliant installation during construction.
The completed installation delivers a practical and durable waste infrastructure solution tailored specifically to the operational needs of an aged care environment, supporting safe internal waste transfer, regulatory compliance, and reliable long‑term building performance.
