Elephants Foot Chute Solutions delivered a purpose-built Smart Linen Chute System for One Circular Quay, integrating advanced waste management, acoustic and odour control, and full system monitoring. The system was installed across levels 05 to 23 with a discharge room located on level 04, designed to optimise efficiency and compliance in this premium mixed-use development.
The chute system was constructed using galvanised steel pipes, upgraded with thick acoustic barriers bonded to convoluted foam and supported with NRD2 rubber isolation mounts to reduce noise transmission. Odour relief vents and flushing sprays were installed at level 23, discharging into open air above the chute. Fire-rated, self-closing Smart Linen intake hoppers with smoke seals were fitted on all levels and integrated with an electronically controlled discharge actuator.
The system features full Smart Chute system functionality, including an HMI screen for real-time monitoring of chute usage, faults, and bin status. Electronic locking and interlocking of intake doors allow only one door to be open at a time, while motion detection sensors secure the discharge area by automatically locking intake doors and disabling equipment if movement is detected. The project also included the reinstatement of penetration covers and ensured full compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.
