Linen Chute System Installation

Darley House is a purpose-built residential aged care facility by Northside Construction, located at 24-26 Darley Street, Mona Vale NSW, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The facility provides residential care accommodation designed to support the comfort, safety, and daily wellbeing of its residents, requiring building infrastructure that supports efficient operations while maintaining the hygiene standards expected within a residential aged care environment.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a linen chute system tailored to the operational requirements of the facility. The system provides efficient linen transfer across three chute pipe levels, reducing manual handling requirements for care and facilities staff and supporting hygienic linen management throughout the building.

Three fire-rated self-closing linen intake doors were installed across all operational levels, with signage fitted to each door to support correct and safe use by staff. The discharge room is located at basement 1, fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit the selected linen trolley, providing a controlled and organised linen collection point at basement level.

An odour relief vent and flushing spray system was installed at the top of the chute shaft, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of the chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the shaft. This is particularly important within an aged care environment where hygiene standards directly impact the health and comfort of residents.

The completed installation provides Northside Construction with a durable and compliant linen management solution tailored to the specific operational demands of Darley House, supporting efficient building operations and contributing to a safe and hygienic environment for residents and care staff on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
