eDiverter and Dual Waste Chute System Installation

Monarch Residences is a landmark luxury residential development by J Hutchison, located at 600 Coronation Drive, Toowong QLD, on the banks of the Brisbane River approximately 3km from the CBD. The development comprises two distinct residential buildings, each requiring an individually tailored waste management solution to suit its specific layout, occupancy, and waste stream requirements.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install an eDiverter chute system in the Coronation Drive building and a dual waste and recycling chute system in the Brisbane Riverside building, providing a combined total of 48 chute pipe levels across both buildings. Both systems were designed to deliver efficient waste and recycling transfer across multiple levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations within a premium riverside residential environment.

The Coronation Drive building is serviced by an eDiverter chute system spanning 16 chute pipe levels, with 16 fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors installed across all operational levels including a garden roof intake level and a straight bypass pipe at roof plant deck level. The discharge room is located at basement 1, fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit a 1,100L MGB, a linear compactor system for the waste stream, and a linear system for the recycling stream, both configured to suit 1,100L MGBs.

The Brisbane Riverside building is serviced by a dual chute system spanning 32 chute pipe levels across 16 waste and 16 recycling chute pipes, with fire-rated self-closing intake doors installed at all operational levels including a garden roof intake level and straight bypass pipes at roof plant deck level for both streams. The discharge room is located at basement 1, fitted with two minor offset discharge configurations to suit 1,100L MGBs, a linear compactor system for the waste stream, and a linear system for the recycling stream.

Acoustic lagging using 50mm thick 32kg/m3 mineral wool was applied to 16 chute pipe sections in each building, providing a high-performance acoustic treatment suited to the premium residential standard of Monarch Residences and minimising noise transmission through the building structure. An EF Neutralizer odour management unit was installed in the discharge room of each building to support ongoing odour control within the waste room environment. Annual maintenance servicing was also included for both systems, with a minimum of one attendance per year per system.

Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at garden roof level in both buildings, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of each chute to support airflow management and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of both shafts.

The completed installation provides J Hutchison with a durable, compliant, and acoustically premium waste management solution tailored to the scale and character of Monarch Residences, supporting efficient building operations and a refined residential experience for occupants within one of Brisbane’s most prestigious riverside addresses.
