Woolooware Shores Stage 8 is the eighth and final stage of Anglicare’s premium seniors living retirement village, constructed by Growthbuilt and located at 25 Bay Road, Taren Point, in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. As the concluding stage of a landmark seniors living precinct, the development required a waste management solution capable of meeting the operational demands of a large-scale retirement living environment while supporting the comfort and safety of its residents.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two eDiverter chute systems across Buildings A and B, each configured to manage both waste and recycling streams through a single chute line. The eDiverter system uses an automated diverter at the base of the chute to direct material to the correct bin, providing a space-efficient and hygienic waste separation solution well suited to a seniors living environment.
Each building services five chute pipe levels spanning levels 1 through 5, with 10 fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors installed across both cores. All intake doors were upgraded to include a full-bin indicator light on the control panel, alerting chute users when bins in the garbage room are full. This smart functionality reduces unnecessary disposal attempts and supports more efficient waste room management across the facility.
Each building’s discharge room is located at ground level and incorporates an eDiverter discharge system connected to a carousel compactor system for 240L waste MGBs and a carousel system without compactor for 240L recycling MGBs. The carousel configuration supports efficient bin rotation and collection within a compact waste room environment, reducing manual handling requirements for facilities staff.
A SMART Chute System full-bin alert control box upgrade was installed in each building, integrating with the intake door indicator lights to provide a building-wide bin monitoring solution. This system supports proactive waste room management and minimises service disruptions for residents across both cores.
Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at level 5 in both Buildings A and B, discharging through to open air on the level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout each shaft. A 12-month defects liability period servicing program was also included, covering both eDiverter chute systems and all four carousel systems across the two buildings.
The completed installation provides Growthbuilt with a durable, compliant, and technologically capable waste management solution tailored to the scale and operational demands of Woolooware Shores Stage 8, supporting efficient building operations and a safe, well-managed environment for residents throughout Anglicare’s flagship retirement village.
