
The Granton is a premium retirement living development by Figurehead Construction, located at 233 New Street, Brighton VIC, within Melbourne’s prestigious Bayside suburb. The facility’s high standard of residential care and operational requirements called for a space-efficient and compliant waste management solution capable of servicing multiple levels while supporting the comfort and safety of its residents.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install an eDiverter chute system tailored to the facility’s vertical layout and operational requirements. The eDiverter system enables both waste and recycling streams to be managed through a single chute line, with an automated diverter at the base directing material to the correct bin, providing a practical and space-efficient waste separation solution well suited to a boutique retirement living environment.
The installation services three chute pipe levels, with three fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors in stainless steel with powder-coated frames installed at every operational level. Signage was fitted to each intake door to support correct and safe use by residents and staff. The chute runs straight up and down with no offsets, with the discharge room located at basement level fitted with an eDiverter system to suit the waste and recycling bin configuration.
A vent and wash-down cleaning system was installed at the top of the chute shaft, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the shaft. Maintaining a clean and well-ventilated chute is particularly important within a retirement living environment where hygiene and resident comfort are paramount.
The completed installation provides Figurehead Construction with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste management solution tailored to the operational demands of The Granton, supporting efficient building operations and a safe and hygienic environment for residents and staff within one of Melbourne’s most prestigious bayside communities.
