eDiverter Waste and Recycling Chute System Installation

Pemulwuy Precinct 3 is a landmark student accommodation development by Deicorp, located at 77-123 Eveleigh Street, Redfern NSW, within the broader Pemulwuy mixed-use precinct on the historic Block in Sydney’s inner south. The development’s high-density student accommodation configuration and prominent inner-city location required a space-efficient and compliant waste management solution capable of servicing a large number of levels reliably and efficiently.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install an eDiverter chute system tailored to the building’s vertical layout and occupancy requirements. The eDiverter system enables both waste and recycling streams to be managed through a single chute line, with an automated diverter at the base directing material to the correct bin, providing a practical and space-efficient waste separation solution well suited to a high-density student accommodation tower.

The installation services 22 chute pipe levels, with 22 fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors in stainless steel installed at every operational level. Signage was fitted to each intake door to support correct use by residents. The chute runs straight up and down with no offsets, with the discharge room located at lower ground level.

A linear compactor system configured to suit a 1,100L waste MGB and a linear track system configured to suit a 1,100L recycling MGB were installed at lower ground level, supporting efficient waste compaction and bin management for both streams. The combination of compaction and linear track systems supports organised and high-volume waste room operations suited to the demands of a large student accommodation building.

Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft.

The completed installation provides Deicorp with a durable, compliant, and high-capacity waste management solution tailored to the operational demands of Pemulwuy Precinct 3, supporting efficient building operations and reliable long-term performance within the Pemulwuy precinct in Sydney’s inner south.
