Due North is a mixed-use residential development by Ironside Constructions, located at 70-82 High Street, Preston VIC, within Melbourne’s inner north approximately 20 minutes from the CBD. The development’s high-density occupancy and mixed-use configuration required a space-efficient and compliant waste management solution capable of servicing multiple levels including a roof terrace level.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install an eDiverter chute system tailored to the building’s vertical layout and occupancy requirements. The eDiverter system enables both waste and recycling streams to be managed through a single chute line, with an automated diverter at the base directing material to the correct bin, providing a practical and space-efficient waste separation solution well suited to a high-density mixed-use building.
The installation services 12 chute pipe levels including a roof terrace intake level, with 12 fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors installed at every operational level. Signage was fitted to each intake door to support correct use by residents. The chute runs straight up and down throughout the shaft, with the discharge room located at ground level fitted with an eDiverter discharge system configured to suit a 660L MGB for both waste and recycling streams.
An integrated single bin compactor configured to suit a 660L waste MGB was installed at ground level, supporting efficient waste compaction and reducing the frequency of bin changeovers for building management. A vent and wash-down cleaning system was installed at roof terrace level, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft.
The completed installation provides Ironside Constructions with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste management solution tailored to the scale and operational demands of Due North, supporting efficient building operations within a high-density mixed-use environment in Melbourne’s inner north.
