
The Marker is a high density residential development delivered by Crema Constructions in Melbourne’s rapidly growing CBD precinct. With multiple lift cores serving a large number of apartments, the building required a robust and scalable waste management solution capable of handling high daily volumes while maintaining safety, hygiene, and compliance. To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a fully integrated chute system designed specifically for high rise residential environments.
The project incorporates three independent dual waste and recycling chute systems across six lift cores. Each system uses 510mm galvanised steel risers that run from the upper residential levels down to the basement discharge rooms, providing smooth vertical transfer and reducing the risk of blockages in a high use environment. Separate waste and recycling streams allow residents to correctly sort materials at the point of disposal, improving recycling rates and reducing contamination.
Fire rated, self closing intake doors are installed on every active level, ensuring safe operation while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. At the top of each chute, vent and wash down systems provide airflow and automated internal cleaning, helping control odours, maintain hygiene, and protect long term performance.
At basement level, waste and recycling are discharged through Type A bottom discharge units into 1100L mobile garbage bins. This configuration integrates seamlessly with the building’s waste chute system layout, allowing building management to efficiently service multiple cores while minimising manual handling. The result is a reliable, low maintenance and future ready solution that supports the ongoing operation of a large scale residential tower in the heart of Melbourne.
