The Rosanna development is a social housing project by Samssons Projects Australia, located on Beetham Parade, Rosanna VIC, within Melbourne’s north-eastern suburbs. The development required a practical and compliant waste management solution providing separate waste and recycling streams to support efficient building operations and reduce manual handling for building management.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a dual waste and recycling chute system across five chute pipe levels, with five fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors and five recycling intake doors installed across all operational levels. The discharge room is located at basement 1, with minor offset discharge configurations installed for both streams to suit 1,100L MGBs.
Acoustic lagging using a 25mm thick 5kg/m2 barrier bonded to convoluted foam was applied to all 10 chute pipe sections, minimising noise transmission through the building structure and supporting a comfortable living environment for residents. Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of each chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene.
The completed installation provides Samssons Projects Australia with a durable and compliant waste and recycling infrastructure solution suited to the operational demands of the Rosanna development, supporting reliable long-term performance within a social housing environment in Melbourne’s north-eastern suburbs.
