The Gladstone Village is a master-planned residential development by Aland, located at 224-240 Pitt Street, Merrylands NSW, approximately 25km west of the Sydney CBD. The development comprises four residential buildings of varying heights, each requiring an individually configured dual waste and recycling chute system to suit its specific layout, level count, and discharge arrangement.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install four dual waste and recycling chute systems across Buildings A, B, C, and D, providing a combined total of 88 chute pipe levels and 82 fire-rated self-closing intake doors across all operational levels. Six bypass configurations were incorporated across Buildings A and B where intake access was not required at certain levels.
Buildings A and B are the larger high-rise cores, each fitted with linear track systems without compactor to suit 1,100L MGBs for both waste and recycling streams, discharging to basement 1. Building A incorporates bypass configurations at ground floor and level 1 for both streams, and customised short-belly hoppers were supplied and installed across 36 intake levels to suit the specific spatial constraints of the building. Additional chute support brackets and modified chute legs were also provided across Tower A to address non-conforming slab penetrations, with additional support brackets supplied for Tower B. Two additional chute pipes, intake doors, and customised short-belly hoppers were installed at the roof level of Tower A, with the vent and wash-down top cap relocated from the level below to the roof level to suit.
Buildings C and D are lower-rise cores, each servicing five waste and five recycling chute pipe levels with intake doors installed at every operational level. Both buildings discharge to basement 1, each fitted with two Type A bottom discharge doors configured to suit 1,100L MGBs for both waste and recycling streams.
Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of all eight chute shafts across all four buildings, discharging through to open air on the level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout each shaft.
The completed installation provides Aland with a durable, compliant, and technically considered waste and recycling infrastructure solution suited to the scale and complexity of The Gladstone Village, supporting reliable long-term performance across all four buildings within this master-planned Western Sydney community.
