Drift Residences is a medium to high‑density coastal apartment development delivered by GDI Group in the highly sought‑after Main Beach precinct. Located close to the beachfront, retail amenities, and key transport links, the project required a high‑performance waste management solution capable of supporting continuous daily resident use while maintaining compliance, acoustic performance, and long‑term durability in a coastal environment.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a single high‑rise eDiverter™ chute system servicing Levels 01 through 31. The system incorporates robust 610mm galvanised steel chute pipes, engineered for strength, corrosion resistance, and consistent vertical waste transfer across the 31‑level structure.
Each level is fitted with fire‑rated, self‑closing eDiverter intake doors, providing controlled waste stream management and secure, compliant resident access. The eDiverter configuration enables improved waste handling efficiency by directing material to the designated discharge stream while reducing operational risks within the waste room.
Given the building’s height and residential context, enhanced acoustic treatment was a key requirement. All chute sections were upgraded with 55mm foil‑faced glass‑wool insulation (R1.3), along with NRD2 rubber isolation mounts featuring 10mm static deflection. This combined acoustic lagging and vibration isolation strategy minimises structure‑borne noise transmission between levels—an essential consideration for high‑rise coastal apartment living.
At Level 31, an integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning system supports airflow, odour control, and internal chute hygiene, helping maintain consistent performance in a humid marine environment. Within the ground‑level discharge room, waste is directed through a minor‑offset discharge arrangement to suit a 1000L MGB, ensuring efficient bin handling and servicing access.
An EF Neutralizer odour management unit was also installed within the discharge room (with dedicated 240V GPO), further supporting hygiene and environmental control. A reusable slab penetration ring former was supplied to streamline slab detailing and futureproof the installation during construction. Ongoing performance is supported through an annual maintenance provision, reinforcing long‑term reliability.
Together, the installation forms part of the development’s broader apartment waste management infrastructure, delivering a compliant, acoustically controlled, and high‑capacity solution tailored to premium coastal high‑rise living in Main Beach.
