Food Organics & Garden Organics (FOGO)

Our FOGO solutions simplify the disposal of organic waste, enhancing recycling rates and reducing the environmental impact of waste disposal. By turning organic waste into valuable compost, FOGO systems are paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.

ABOUT THE FOGO

Advanced Organic Waste Management Solutions

Food Organics & Garden Organics (FOGO) chute systems are designed specifically for organic waste, including food scraps and garden waste, where organic waste is processed into compost. Chute doors are typically situated within a compartment on each residential level adjacent to general waste and recycling chutes or bins.

FOGO waste is discharged into 120L or 240L bins located within an enclosed waste discharge room at the chute’s base. The system can accommodate single bins or bins mounted on an automated linear track or carousel system.

By separating organic waste from general waste streams, FOGO systems reduce landfill contributions and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

WHY CHOOSE THE FOGO SYSTEM

Discover an Efficient and Eco-Friendly Waste System for Organic Waste

FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) systems focus on the separation and processing of biodegradable materials, diverting them from landfills and harnessing their potential as valuable resources.

Enhanced Waste Management Practices

With dedicated chutes for organic waste, residents are more likely to separate food scraps and garden waste, leading to more effective recycling and composting processes.

Cost Saving

FOGO reduces waste disposal costs and the need for landfill expansion. The resulting compost can be sold, offsetting operational costs and potentially generating revenue.

Sustainable Composting Practices

Organic waste is processed into compost, which supports sustainable practices and reduces landfill usage. This compost can be used to enrich soil and support local agriculture, contributing to a circular economy and promoting environmental sustainability.

What types of waste can be disposed of in a FOGO chute?

FOGO chutes are specifically designed for organic waste, such as food scraps and garden waste. It is important to use Council-approved compostable liners to prevent contamination and ensure the effective processing of waste into compost.

How are FOGO systems maintained?

FOGO systems include a washdown function for easy cleaning. Regular maintenance and cleaning ensure that the chutes remain hygienic and free of blockages, maintaining the system’s efficiency.

Can FOGO systems be installed in existing buildings?

Yes, FOGO systems can be installed in existing buildings, provided there is sufficient space and infrastructure to accommodate the chutes and collection bins. Our team can assess your property and recommend the best solution for implementing a FOGO system, ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards.

What Cost-Saving Benefits Can You Expect from a Garbage Chute System?

Adopting a garbage chute system can result in significant cost savings by reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills, thereby decreasing disposal fees and landfill taxes.

Furthermore, using compost generated from organic waste minimises the need for chemical fertilisers, providing additional economic benefits and supporting sustainable practices.

How does a FOGO garbage chute system improve waste management efficiency?

A FOGO garbage chute system streamlines the separation of organic waste at the source, reducing contamination of recyclables and simplifying the sorting process. This efficiency leads to lower operational costs for waste management, improved hygiene and odor control in disposal areas, and compliance with local waste separation regulations.
