Elephants Foot Chute Solutions partnered with Multiplex to deliver one of Australia’s most advanced chute management systems at the landmark Western Sydney International Airport. This large-scale infrastructure project required cutting-edge waste handling solutions to meet the operational, safety, and sustainability demands of a new international gateway.
The works included the supply and installation of custom IntelliChute™ smart chute systems across multiple international, domestic, and landside buildings within the airport. Each chute system comprised 650mm diameter galvanised steel pipes, fitted with fire-rated, side-hinged Chute Doors upgraded with IntelliChute™ technology.
The systems were supported with major mid-level offsets, odour relief vents and flushing sprays discharging through open air, and precision-engineered Discharge Attachments configured to suit 660L and 1100L MGBs. Each IntelliChute™ installation was supplied with a dedicated HMI control box in the discharge rooms, integrated with blockage detection technology and BMS connectivity with four-signal outputs, providing real-time monitoring and seamless digital control.
Additional project variations included the supply of stand-alone bin compactors, RFID-enabled smart bin scales, multi-stream waste bins, and bag scale units—further supporting the airport’s commitment to smart infrastructure and sustainability.
This installation demonstrates Elephants Foot Chute Solutions’ capability to deliver complex, future-ready waste systems for large-scale transport hubs, balancing safety, technology, and long-term operational efficiency.
